Brittney & Alex

Super fun and beautiful South Loop wedding at the Chicago Illuminating Company with a Game of Thrones theme plus love.

How did you guys meet?

We met at 3:30 in the morning at Flash Taco following a night out with friends. ūüôā

What do you value in one another?

Brittney: Alex is one of the most caring people I’ve met. He always put others before himself. He loves his family so much and that is so important to me. He’s also very grounded. When I would get stressed while planning the wedding, he would always help calm me down and help me find a solution. I love that’s he’s so level headed because sometimes I’m not.

Alex: What do you value in one another? Brittney is so thoughtful and nurturing. She is always taking care of people, especially me when I got sick.

How have your family supported you in the journey?

Alex was diagnosed with cancer right after we got engaged, and both of our families helped us with whatever we needed. During the four months he was in treatment, someone was here to go with Al to every one of his treatments except one. That is a testament to the love both of our families showed us even though they live far away.

What are your plans for the future?

We’re going to start looking for a place to buy, and later on in the future, hopefully start a family!

Why did you choose the Illuminating Company and Marta?: )

We knew we wanted to have our ceremony and reception at the same venue. I saw a wedding that was held at the Chicago Illuminating Company in a wedding magazine and loved the way the venue looked. I looked it up online and emailed Marta. As soon as we saw it, I knew it was perfect. The space is a blank canvas and you can do pretty much anything with it. Plus, Marta was very helpful. She gave us lots of great recommendations for vendors, which is actually how we picked our caterer!

How do you each express your love for one another?

We always kiss each other good morning and good night. We love to laugh and joke around with one another. And we love to cook and enjoy a glass of wine together.

What advice would you give other couples about planning a wedding.

While it can be stressful, remember to take a deep breath and remember that in the end, you get to marry your best friend. The day will fly by so try not to sweat the small stuff, and have fun! It will be the best day of your life.

What was your experience with Friends First Photo like?

Jake was wonderful to work with. Not only is he insanely talented (as evidenced by our incredible photos), but he truly got to know us as a couple. He took the time to get to know us, our story and what our vision was. He truly delivered exactly what we wanted. And Bolor, who assisted on our wedding day, was a dream to work with as well. She made us feel so comfortable and at ease.
