The Friends First Story

FRIENDS FIRST IS A PROFESSIONAL PORTRAIT STUDIO THAT PROMISES TO DELIVER THE MOST MEANINGFUL ART THAT YOU WILL EVER HANG IN YOUR HOME

We want you to feel love and connection with your family and yourself again and again through your art.

“Our goal in creating this studio was to connect with our clients on a deeper level and discover what they cherish most about their loved ones, while creating art so personal and meaningful that they  hold on to it for a lifetime.

Friends First was founded by Chicago wedding photographer Jake Miller because he feels that pointing a camera at someone you don’t know is insensitive and damn rude. He takes the promise built into his studio name quite literally by taking the time to get to know what you love and value about one another long before he ever picks up a camera.

The black-out studio portraits are inspired by Jake’s love of Carl Sagan who is noted for saying “For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love” which was was inspired by an image taken, at Sagan’s suggestion, by Voyager 1 on February 14, 1990. Aside from being a romantic and an astronomy geek, Jake is a jiu jitsu fanatic and a dog nut.

Jake and his friends bring the same vision and attitude from their documentary wedding style into the studio. This has allowed for a whole new experience for those who are wanting photographs of their loved ones made into true pieces of art.
